Artists Statment & Biography

Artists Statement

My art is a living record of human experience, love and passionate interests. Using animals and nature, favoring the fox, while mixing in skeletal themes, themes of death and the occult I create meaningful stories of personal and shared experiences and identity as a woman, a person with mental health struggles, trauma, and a queer person. As well as creating pieces that represent and honor the people and things I love. Elements included in my work will most likely have a meaning behind them, from colour choice, animal choice, line weight, mediums used and the way those mediums are used. It can come down to even small details like a small shape choice, or the emotion that was put into a line. These things having a meaning are very important to me in my work. Utilizing linework, colour and a graphic art style, I create digital drawings and design work as well as traditional paintings and other multimedia pieces. I want my work to represent not just myself but other people as well. I aim to challenge the viewer to discover what my work means and the story behind it by not making it immediately obvious, having the viewer stop and work towards what it could be. Also to allow them to attach their own meaning to the work to make it a personal experience for each individual.
